Nicholas Troy Sheley is one of the most popular and richest Spree Killer who was born on July 31, 1979 in Rock Falls, United States. Sheley was also found guilty in Rock Island County Court of first-degree murder on May 29, 2014. This was for four murders in Rock Falls. He was sentenced to death on August 11, 2014. In exchange for immunity, Holly, his wife, testified against her husband. After learning that Branson was having an affair, Holly Sheley told the prosecution that Sheley had killed the four Rock Falls victims.
In January 2016 he appeared in court represented by public defenders asking that the trial be moved to another town to secure an unbiased jury. The judge advised that he would rule later in the week. The judge denied both the change of venue request and a motion for a new judge.
In January 2017 a trial date was set in Missouri. The jury was selected on 4-5 January 2018; a two-week trial later followed on 8 January 2018.
Sheley was convicted in Knox County, Illinois of Randall’s first-degree murder on September 29, 2011. On October 22, 2012, his trial in Whiteside County, Illinois for the murders of Reed and Randall began. On November 6, he was found guilty of the first-degree murder, home invasion and residential burglary. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on January 16, 2013 for the murder as well as 30 and 15 years respectively for home invasion. He is currently a Pontiac Correctional Center in Pontiac (Illinois) inmate.
Sheley, a Rock Falls, Illinois resident, was frequently arrested for crimes that ranged from marijuana possession to domestic violence. Holly, his ex-wife, married him on May 10, 2008. They had been together since 2004. After his arrest, they divorced in December 2013.
In February 2015, Sheley was extradited to Jefferson County, Missouri to stand trial for the murders of the Estes’ where prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Illinois unlike Missouri does not have a death penalty.
